WARNING: Burglar Poses As Water Official Date: 20/01/2010
Hello from http://www.pureshowers.co.uk the home of the BEST shower filter store in the UK and Ireland!,

Last Saturday the 16th of Jan at 2pm an 82 year old pensioner from the Burmantofts area was robbed by a burglar pretending to be a Water Board Official.

After letting the man into the house he wrapped a towel around his hand and searched under the sink in the kitchen while claiming the water supply was contaminated and would make the victim ill if she drank it.

The suspect is described as a white male, 18-25 years of age, skinny build with short dark coloured hair. He was wearing a light coloured jumper with a hooped pattern of black or grey stripes with blue trousers, possibly jeans, and still had the towel wrapped round his hand.

DC Stuart Patterson from Killkingbeck CID said: "Crime of this type are extremely cowardly in their nature and the victim has been left understandably upset by the incident.

"I would ask any witnesses or anyone with information to contact the burglary team at Killingbeck Police Station via: 0113 2413786 or call Crimestoppers anonymously and in confidence on: 0800 555 111

"With the recent cold weather we have experienced I would also urge residents to be on their guard if they have any unknown callers turning up on their doorstep, claiming to be from a utility company, and needing access to their home to check on some weather related problem.

"If this does happen always ask for identification and then check this by phoning the company in question. Find the telephone number yourself and do not take one supplied to you by the caller.

"If you have any concerns at all please contact the police on the non-emergency number: 0845 60 60 606."

It is terrible to hear about villans praying on the elderly. We hope that someone out there will be able to identify this horrid person and the police catch him!
