This year you can check on-line the water quality of your favourite swimming spot in more than 500 bathing water sites across England and Wales.

The UK Environmental Agency has release detailed profiles for over 500 bathing sites and they can all be seen on-line and include maps, photos and links to the latest water quality results. By visiting the Environmental Agency website (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/recreation/127626.aspx) you can drill down on the county that you want to either visit for a quick dip or find a new higher quality bathing spot in or around your local county.

Christine Tuckett, Environment Agency Head of Bathing Water, said:

“These profiles provide the most comprehensive information yet on the cleanliness of bathing waters, helping the public to make more informed choices about the best locations to bathe.

“A record number of beaches reached the highest European standards last year but we are not complacent. The Environment Agency is working hard to tackle all sources of pollution, alongside beach users, local authorities, farmers and water companies.”

So if you're sick of finding rubbish in your local bathing area and need to find a newer cleaner beach or inland bathing water site, or even if you spontaneously want to find a new beach and know it has the highest water quality in your area. You can now do this quite easily with these water quality profiles.
